Icelandic wool can vary widely among individual sheep. They have a dual coat with a tog (the longer, coarser outer fibers) and a thel (the softer undercoat). Madame generally grows a very sparse tog and a dense thel, and this fleece was no different. Madame is one of our senior sheep here at the farm, being one of the first pair we brought home in 2012. Her wool just gets softer with age
Price is per ounce of fiber. (16 ounces = 1 pound)
Staple length is approximately 2".
For more about Madame see her bio page on the blog.
We also have shearing videos! See the 2021 video and the 2022 video.
